Neurofer is a specialist neurodevelopmental assessment provider focused on high-quality Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessments for children, young people and adults. We are expanding our consultant psychiatrist capacity to strengthen clinical leadership across our assessment pathways and support complex presentations where psychiatric expertise is needed. This is a flexible contractor role within a neurodevelopmental clinic — not a general psychiatry hospital post.
Key responsibilities.
Work is primarily remote, with face-to-face clinics available in some locations. Caseload centres on ADHD and Autism pathways.
Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and diagnostic formulation for ADHD and/or Autism across age groups within Neurofer's pathways.
Review complex referral information, collateral history and pre-assessment materials.
Deliver clear, accurate, evidence-based clinical reports suitable for patients, families and referrers.
Offer diagnostic feedback and explain findings in plain, supportive language.
Contribute clinical judgement on complex or ambiguous neurodevelopmental presentations.
Work collaboratively with Neurofer's assessors and multidisciplinary colleagues.
Practise in line with NICE guidance, safeguarding requirements, clinical governance and GMC professional standards.
Participate in clinical supervision, CPD and quality assurance processes.
What we are looking for.
We are looking for GMC-registered consultant psychiatrists with strong neurodevelopmental experience who want flexible contractor work.
- Medical degree with a postgraduate psychiatric qualification (MRCPsych or equivalent)
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in a relevant psychiatric specialty (for example General Adult or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry), or equivalent specialist registration
- Substantial post-CCT experience relevant to ADHD and/or Autism assessment pathways
- In-depth knowledge of evidence-based assessment and diagnosis of ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Ability to work autonomously with sound clinical judgement and clear decision-making
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, safeguarding and professional standards in UK mental health practice
- Ability to deliver high-quality remote / digital clinical work
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Experience in NHS or private neurodevelopmental / ADHD / Autism services
- Experience across both children & young people and adult pathways
- Experience supporting medication decisions or ADHD titration within an assessment service
- Familiarity with recognised diagnostic tools and structured interviews used in neurodevelopmental assessment
- Cliniko experience or similar clinical systems knowledge
